Ryan Hill is an applied ecologist with more than 15 years of experience in Canada and abroad, as a consultant and as a staff member of inter-governmental organizations including the United Nations. He specializes in risk assessment and management of contaminated sites, design and implementation of environmental monitoring programs, and environmental impact assessment.
Ryan's technical skills include formal decision analysis, quantitative risk analysis, development of computer models for risk assessment applications (e.g., food chain models) and fisheries applications, statistical data analysis, Bayesian methods and other approaches for dealing with scientific uncertainty. He has a strong interest in ensuring that decision-making processes embrace risks and benefits while reflecting the values of managers and stakeholders. He has published several journal articles and authored numerous reports on a wide range of both technical and policy issues.
